This policy is written to be honest about ReelsRakhlo's actual architecture — your saved content stays on-device, but the free tier shows ads (which involves Google), and Premium subscriptions go through Google Play. We won't change this policy without also changing what the app does.
ReelsRakhlo helps you save and organise short-form videos (Instagram reels, YouTube Shorts) by sharing them to the app. The AI that decides which category each save belongs to runs entirely on your phone — your saved URLs, captions, thumbnails, and our learning data never leave your device.
The free version of the app shows banner ads at the bottom of the screen. Showing those ads requires us to share basic device info with Google (advertising ID, IP address, device model). This is how all ad-supported apps work — Google's privacy practices are described in their Mobile Ads SDK policy.
If you upgrade to Premium (₹25/month), the ads disappear. The subscription runs through Google Play Billing — Google handles all your payment data; ReelsRakhlo never sees your card or UPI details.
You can uninstall the app any time and all your saved data is gone.
| Data | Where it lives | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| URLs of videos you share | On your device only (SQLite database) | Only you |
| Captions / thumbnails / OCR text from public pages | On your device only | Only you |
| Your category corrections + author preferences | On your device only | Only you |
| AI model files (downloaded on first launch) | On your device only | Only you |
| Advertising ID + IP + device model (free tier only) | Sent to Google for ad serving | Google AdMob — see "Third-party services" below |
| Subscription status (Premium tier only) | Verified via Google Play | Google Play |
| Crash reports + anonymous usage events | Sent to Firebase | Google Firebase |
When you install ReelsRakhlo, Android may ask for these permissions:
| Permission | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Internet access | To download AI models on first launch, fetch reel thumbnails, and (on free tier) load ads |
| Network state | To wait for Wi-Fi before downloading large model files — saves your mobile data |
| Background work | To process saves while the app is closed (categorization happens in the background) |
| Billing | To handle Premium subscriptions via Google Play |
We do NOT ask for: camera, microphone, contacts, location, external storage, phone, or SMS access.
For full transparency, here are every network call ReelsRakhlo can make:
Instagram public page fetch — when you save an Instagram reel, ReelsRakhlo fetches that reel's public page using a public bot user-agent (the same way WhatsApp link previews work). The page returns the reel's caption and thumbnail. ReelsRakhlo does not log into Instagram and has no Instagram credentials.
YouTube oEmbed + auto-CC — for YouTube Shorts, ReelsRakhlo calls YouTube's free public oEmbed API for title/thumbnail, and the timed-text endpoint for captions when available. No authentication.
Thumbnail image download — once we have the thumbnail URL, the image is downloaded to display in your library.
Model download (one-time, ~700 MB) — on first launch, the AI model files are downloaded from a public HuggingFace repository. These are static files; no personal data is sent.

Premium users send none of this, because the SDK isn't asked to load any ad.

the URL, caption, or content of any save. Sample events carry only
counts (e.g. result_count = 4) and durations.Firebase is governed by Google's standard data-handling policies: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
That's the complete list of network calls. Nothing else leaves your device.
ReelsRakhlo's categorisation, search, and learning all run on your phone. The AI models are:
These models are downloaded once on first launch and stored in the app's private folder. No reel data is ever uploaded for AI processing.
ReelsRakhlo does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Per Google Play's content policy, ad serving for users marked as children is handled with restricted ad serving (no personalised ads). If you believe your child has used the app and you'd like the locally stored data wiped, simply uninstall ReelsRakhlo — Android removes the private database alongside the app.
Your saved reels, category corrections, and learning data live in ReelsRakhlo's private SQLite database. They persist until:
Crash reports + anonymous analytics follow Google Firebase's standard retention (typically up to 14 months for events, longer for aggregated crash stats — see the Firebase privacy link above).
Ad-serving data sent to Google AdMob follows Google's retention practices (see the AdMob privacy link above).
You can:
We do not have a server-side copy of your data, so there is nothing for us to delete on our end. The on-device data is yours.
ReelsRakhlo relies on these third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy that governs how they handle data sent to them.
| Service | Used for | What they receive | Their policy |

| Instagram (public web) | Fetch reel metadata | The reel URL you saved | https://privacycenter.instagram.com/policy/ |
| YouTube (public APIs) | Fetch Short metadata + captions | The Short URL you saved | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| HuggingFace | AI model file download | Standard HTTP request | https://huggingface.co/privacy |

We do not have business relationships with Instagram, YouTube, or HuggingFace — we use their public services the same way any client application would.
If ReelsRakhlo's data-handling changes (for example, if a future version adds cloud sync, accounts, or a new third-party service), we will:
We won't silently change the data-handling model. The Effective Date at the top of this policy is what you should check to confirm the version you read matches the version of the app you're using.
